Entrance beginning to be revealed

Entry to our new campus will be off old 421 (old East King Street) just across from the Mountlawn Cemetery. Hilltop Drive is now closed. We will have a private drive which will descend across the old Hilltop Drive with a left curve downward onto the main campus.

This really looks great and should be a wonderful resource for the WHS community.

This view is a big help, Shelton. I can understand the configuration a lot more clearly. I have also walked to the site off the Greenway Trail, but wasn't sure how to get to it by car. Now I think I can find it easily. Thanks for the great photos .

Thanks Patty. If you have any ideas let me know, I was wondering about linking the Google aerial view of the site to this blog. Can you send me that? sw

Susan, if you have come up off the greenway you know what a long walk it is from the bottom to the top of our site. Nearly 1 mile! :p

Lee Stroupe is maintaining a webpage for the retired teachers. He wants to put a link from that page to the blog. Is that okay with you?

Do you know if there will be seperate entrances for busses, students and "pick-up" parents to end some of the congestion?
Thanks

We will have a single entrance point to our campus. With improved traffic patterning promised and for security reasons we have chosen to limit campus access to a single entry point.

Restricted single entry onto campus is an important school safety measure.

It will be two lanes in, two lanes out the full length of the driveway. Busses and teachers will peel off to the right on the north end of the school. Students and parents will flow to drop off points farther along on the approach. The traffic loop will circle the parking lot and exit back onto old 421.

There will be emergency vehicle access points and evacuation egress points along the perimeter, but these will not remain open unless needed.
